内容介绍 :	Beggar girl Ah Hing is chased after by police for stealing a cooked chicken. Hiding at the backstage of the theatre, she is saved when set dresser Leung Kin lies and tells her pursuers she is his wife. Ah Hing is later employed as a servant by Lee Po -tin, who happens to visit Leung Kin's house. One day, while seeing Ah Hing put on her mistress's dress, Lee Po-tin schemes of introducing her to Uncle Koo with an eye to her becoming Koo's mistress in exchange for clearing his debts to Uncle Koo. Ah Hing discovers Lee's scheme and runs away to Kin's house. They fall in love but economic hard times force Kin to look for work in another place. Lee Po-tin once again makes a play by lying to Ah Hing, telling her that Kin has drowned. Believing him, Ah Hing marries Uncle Koo for the sake of her unborn baby. Later, Ah Hing meets a colleague of Kin during a birthday banquet for Uncle Koo. She learns that Kin is alive and is coming home. Ah Hing faints from the news. The doctor is called and he reveals that Ah Hing is pregnant. Uncle Koo mistakenly believes that the baby is his. As he celebrates Ah Hing's pregnancy, the excitement kills him. Ah Hing inherits Uncle Koo's fortune but Lee Po -tin demands a share or else he will make a scandal. During the quarrel, Lee Po-tin is hit on the head with a bottle wielded by his own mistress. Lee is killed and the distraught mistress jumps to her death from the building. Ah Hing is reunited with Leung Kin. With her money, she helps Kin organise an opera troupe.
