内容介绍 :	Rich businessman Poon Chung-shan is a widower who marries Pak Ching-mei , a socialite. Ching-mei has an extra-marital affair when the husband leaves on business. The affair is discovered by Man-kuen, Chung-shan's daughter. Ching-mei retaliates by arranging Man-kuen to marry an old man as his second wife. Man-kuen runs away and stays in the home of her friend Lam Chun-ming, a primary school teacher. Lam's mother is keen to see her son marry. Seeing that Man-kuen is a virtuous woman, the mother encourages her son to marry her. Man-kuen gives birth to three daughters. Her health suffers as she worries about how to make ends meet. Meanwhile, her father has no news of her as Ching-mei increases her influence over him. Chun-ming loses his job and, tempted by materialistic gains, becomes a businessman. As he becomes successful, Chun-ming has an affair with socialite Pak Ping, who is in fact, Pak Ching-mei. With Pak Ping's help, Chun-ming gets rich dealing in munitions. Pak Ping soon becomes pregnant with Chun-ming's child. She urges Chun-ming to abandon Man-kuen in the countryside. They head to Shanghai for their marriage ceremony and their honeymoon. After Chun-ming's return, Man-kuen brings her daughters to the city to visit Chun-ming. In the office, she collapses when she discovers the truth. Chun-ming's mother urges Man-kuen to compromise for the sake of the baby boy by Pak Ping. At this time, Chung- shan turns up and upon seeing Pak Ping, demands a settlement of scores before the court. Pak Ping tries to run away but runs into a train and gets killed. Chung-shan urges his daugher to forgive Chun-ming. With Chung-shan's help , Chun-ming devotes himself once again to educational work.
