内容介绍 :	Orphan girl Lau Yuk-mui is sold to Third Aunt Tang as maid at age twelve. Tang's two adopted daughters Siu-mei and Siu-hung are taught to sing by Chu Sin-hok. Sin-hok's son Tin-siu regularly follows his father to Tang's house. Tin-siu takes pity on Yuk-mui and secretly teaches her how to sing. The years pass. The children grow up to be adults. Tin-siu is now a musician at the Tin Heung Tea House. Yuk-mui is still a servant girl. An invertebrate gambler, Tang sells off Yuk-mui to settle her debts, but Tin-siu rescues Yuk-mui. He then leaves home to advance himself for the sake of redeeming Yuk-mui. Sin-hok then proposes that Yuk-mui sing at the tea house. When Siu-hung is unable to perform a show, Yuk-mui is recommended. She becomes an overnight star. Meanwhile, Tin-siu has joined the air force and distinguished himself, winning a promotion as a colonel. He goes home to redeem Yuk-mui but Tang raises her price. As an indignant Tin-siu pulls Yuk-mui away, Tang gives chase but is knocked down by a car. Before she dies, Tang demands a thousand dollars from Tin-siu before she is willing to give up Yuk-mui.
