内容介绍 :	Primary school teacher Ho Kei-sin leaves the countryside after a flood to make ends meet in the city. His wife, Yu Yeuk-bing, son Wai-yee, and mother set out to look for him but Wai-yee is lost during the journey. Yeuk-bing cannot find Kei- sin in the city as he has been evicted by the landlord for not paying rent. Yeuk-bing finds work as a servant but the master, Wong Kam-chiu, attempts to rape her. Yeuk-bing escapes. As her mother-in- law falls ill from worrying about her son and grandson, Yeuk-bing has no recourse but to sell herself to Wong Kam-chiu so that she may pay her mother-in-law's medical expenses. Wai-yee has become a child beggar. He is picked up for theft by the police one day and through Kei-sin's schoolmate Chief Cheung, is reunited with his father. Kei-sin returns to teaching and leads a settled life. Yeuk-bing becomes an escort girl at the dance hall and the mistress of Manager Wu, who later abandons her. Yeuk-bing becomes sick. One day, Wai-yee picks up his mother's photograph in a tailor shop. Upon inquiries, Kei-sin's mother is found in the hospital. Father and son thus learn the truth about Yeuk-bing. Rushing to a lodging house, Kei-sin learns that Yeuk-bing is on her death bed. She refuses to see Kei-sin and dies all alone in a little room. (Extracted from newspaper synopsis.)
