内容介绍 :	Koo Tao-fei is the head of a rich family. His son, Ah Ning, is a ne' er-do-well, while Madam To, the mother, is ill-disposed towards her daughter-in-law Luk Wai-chu because she has yet to become pregnant. Wai-chu's sister Wai-bing lives in the Koo household. Wai -bing's boyfriend is Poon Chin-wan and they later form a family of their own. Chin-wan works in the Koo business as a clerk while Wai-bing becomes a primary school teacher. However, with the birth of three children, family circumstances become straitened. They survive only with the help of Wai-chu. Ah Ning then makes the maid Ah Mui pregnant. Madam To encourages her son to take the servant as a concubine. Wai-chu thus loses the means to support her sister. When Wai-bing's youngest son falls ill, Chin-wan steals funds from his company and is sacked when discovered. Following this incident, Wai-chu is ostracised by the Koo family. She jumps into the river to end her life. Wai-bing becomes pregnant again but illness induces a miscarriage and she dies, leaving behind her remaining children and her husband to face life. (Based on a newspaper synopsis)
