内容介绍 :	Businessman Sit Tsi-law has three wives. First Madame bears him a son, Siu-yee. Tsi-law and his faithful servant Sit Po travel afar on business. They stay in a wayside inn. Sit Po goes to the village to sell wares and on his return, discovers that the inn has been burned down by bandits. Tsi-law is missing, presumed dead. Sit Po returns home to inform the family. Second Madame now consipires with her brother Lau Kau and her lover Sun Kwun to inherit the Sit fortune. They arrange it so that Lau Kau marries First Madame, then force her to sell off the estate. Third Madame and Sit Po are compelled to leave. Third Madame brings along Siu-yee and they live in the outskirts, relying on farming and weaving for a living. Ten years pass . Third Madame sends Siu-yee to school but the boy is mischievous and loathes to learn. When Sit Po tells him of his background, Siu-yee turns a new leaf and acknowledges his wrong. Siu-yee now resolves to search for his mother , First Madame. First Madame has meanwhile lost her home and fortune, these having been squandered by Lau Kau. She is reduced to making a living as a wood-cutter. Second Madame is also reduced to penury due to Sun Kwun being imprisoned. In his search for First Madame, Siu-yee comes across Lau Kau on the road. Lau kidnaps Siu-yee, hoping to sell him to Mr Chow, a minor official. Fortunately, First Madame comes back and recognises her own son. A quarrel between First Madame and Lau Kau results in the death of First Madame. Chasing after Siu-yee, Lau Kau meets Tsi-law on the way who stops Lau and arrests him. It turns out that Tsi-law has not been burned in the inn but got saved by a general, who made him a Deputy. When Tsi-law hears about the great changes in his family, he orders the building of a monument in praise of Third Madame. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
