内容介绍 : | Mui Chung-ping is a middle-aged widow with four daughters to look after. The daughters are Yeuk-lan, Yeuk-kuk, Yeuk-chuk and Yeuk-mei. Yeuk-lan, the eldest, has married Mr Chiu but the husband dies young, leaving her with a son to look after. Third daughter Yeuk-chuk cannot get over her mother's passing and becomes chronically ill. Thus, Yeuk-lan returns home to look after Yeuk-chuk. Second daughter Yeuk-kuk has a crush on cousin Chung Yik-leung. Chung-ping and Yeuk -lan hope that Yik-leung will marry Yeuk-chuk, but Yik-leung is in love with Yeuk-lan. To diminish Yik-leung's desire for her, Yeuk-lan decides to return to her late husband's, but she is compelled to return home when Yeuk-chuk's illness takes a turn for the worse. Yik-leung makes an appointment to meet Yeuk-lan in an inn where Yeuk-lan asks Yik-leung to marry Yeuk-kuk. He agrees. As they leave the apartment , they are sighted by Yeuk-lan's parents-in-law, who conclude that Yeuk-lan is having an affair with the young man. As a result, Yeuk-lan is expelled from the Chiu home. Separated from his mother, Yeuk- lan's son becomes seriously ill. Yeuk-lan returns but is barred from seeing her son. That night, in a feeding storm, Yeuk-lan breaks the glass window with her bare hand and climbs into her son's room but it is too late. Grief -stricken, Yeuk-lan rushes to the streets and is knocked down by an oncoming car. When her father and parents-in-law rush to the scene, Yeuk-lan has already died.
