内容介绍 :	Literary writer Law Kar-wah stops over in Hong Kong on his way home to his village. He meets a woman fortune-teller, Wah Ling-sin, who introduces him to Mui Lai-ling. Lai-ling works as a model in a boutique. The couple becomes affectionate, but Ling-sin informs Kar-wah that Lai-ling is a prostitute. To let Kar-wah discover the truth by himself, Ling-an set up an appointment for him with Lai-ling in a hotel under the name of Mr Tsui. Thus Kar-wah discovers the truth about Lai-ling. He falls ill. Kar-wah, having no money and unable to pay rent, becomes a gigolo urged by Ling-sin. His first client is none other than Lai-ling. In fact, the encounter is purposely arranged by Lai-ling so that he can personally experience and understand her circumstances. The lovers reconcile and return to the village for their wedding. However, Kar-wah's mother is dissatisfied with Lai-ling and ill-treats her. The couple decides to return to Hong Kong. Lai-ling resumes her work and becomes a successful model, now employed by a number of boutiques. Left at home alone, a bored Kar-wah participates in Ling-sin's drama troupe. He becomes an actor and goes on tour with the troupe. To be close to her husband, Lai-ling gives up her glamourous lifestyle and joins Kar-wah on tour. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
