内容介绍 :	After being jilted by his rich fiancee, white-collar worker Wai Chi-hei is introduced to Pak Tai, a star hostess of a dance hall by his friends Wu Kwun and Chu Peng. They fall in love. Although Wu and Chu advise him against marrying Pak Tai, Chi-hei does not listen to them and the two marry. Tai was once a university student. She becomes a hostess because of the straitened circumstances. Their marriage life is happy and Chi-hei gets a promotion. Soon Tai is pregnant. The wife of Chow Hong, a journalist and a friend of Chi-hei, returns to the mainland and this gives Tai a chance to replace her as a teacher at a primary school. One day, Tai is harassed by a former dance hall patron. Chi-hei defends her and gets into a row with the guy. They are both arrested by the police. Chi-hei feels he has lost face because of the incident and begins to dislike Tai. At an alumni party, his ex-fellow students jeer at Chi-hei. He is also sacked by his company. Chi-hei blames Tai for all his woes. His friends Wu and Chu egg him on courting Helen, a rich woman. A snubbed Tai gives birth to a child, comforted only by Chow Hong. Tai visits Helen's house to see Chi-hei. Helen takes the opportunity to demand that Chi-hei divorces Tai. In despair, Tai plans to commit suicide. But an encouraging letter from Hong's wife makes her change her mind. She decides to return to the mainland and contributes herself toward rebuilding the country. Now Chi-hei is beginning to regret what he has done; he rushes to the railway station but Tai and his son have already departed on a train. Hong tells Chi-hei that if he is truly remorseful, he and his family will reunite one day. (Based on viewing of the film.)
