内容介绍 : | Wong Lung is a young man demobilised from the army. He returns to his village only to discover that his father has died at the hands of the village chief and that their land has been confiscated. He confronts the chief but is pacified by his conciliatory approach. Lung is made captain of the village militia but soon falls victim to the chief's evil plot. He is arrested on a trumped up charge but he kills the arresting officer and escapes to the mountains. The chief arrests Lung's brother instead. His mother pleads for mercy and sells her grandson to raise funds to free him. However, the chief refuses to set the son free. When Lung hears of his sister-in-law's suicide upon losing her son and his brother's incarceration, he joins other victims of the chief's cruelty, including Cheung Tak-biu, and becomes an outlaw in the mountains. When the chief threatens his mother, Lung sends Tak-biu to bring his mother and sister to the mountain hideout. The chief's lackeys discover the group and Lung's mother and sister are captured. Lung leads his band of outlaws to the village and kills the chief. At this point, county troops surround the whole village. Not wishing to implicate the others, Lung takes on the troops by himself and is shot dead. (Extracted from the film brochure.) |
