内容介绍 :	Businessman Yim Lap-tak adopts an orphan girl Yuet-han, whom he meets on a business trip. His wife, however, is partial to her own daughter Wai-chu, and mistreats Yuet-han. One day, a neighbour Chiu Yau-ling calls on the Yims and expresses a wish to match his son and their daughters. Lap-tak's wife looks down upon them because of their humble background and matches Hang-lau with Yuet-han. Yuet-han and Hang -lau begin to fall in love with each other. Ten years lapse. Hang-lau becomes an imperial scholar. Seeing a bright future for Hang-lau, Lap-tak's wife changes her mind and wants Wai-chu to marry him instead. Hang -lau opposes in vain the new arrangement. Lap-tak embarks on another business trip. Knowing that his wife will mistreat Yuet-han, he arranges for her to stay in a nunnery. Hang-lau visits Yuet-han in the nunnery and pledges for her love. Hang-lau's father, Lap-tak's wife and Wai-chu soon find out their love affair, accusing Yuet-han of unchaste behaviour, and are about to expel her from the family. Fortunately, a servant Chuen-sang intervenes by falsely claiming that he and Yuet-han are married. After this incident, Hang-lau is extremely depressed. Jeered at by Wai-chu, Hang-lau draws his sword and kills her. Hang-lau is sentenced to death. He is to be transferred to Changan, the capital, awaiting his execution. When Chuen-sang learns about the news, he visits Hang-lau and tells him that Yuet-han is carrying his child. However, He keeps the news from Yuet-han and lies to her that Hang-lau has gone to the capital to take the state examination. Finally, Yuet-han learns about the news only on arriving at the capital in search of Hang-lau. The day of execution finally approaches and just when his child is born, he has to leave this world.
