内容介绍 :	One night in early autumn, old servant Chun-fuk tells his grandson, Ah Ngau, the story of Smuggler Tong Do-tak and his family. Do-tak's eldest son, Chi-neng, is an inveterate gambler while his daughter Tsi-seong is a kind and gentle lady. The second mistress, one of Do-tak's concubines, plots to kill Chi-neng so that her son, Chi-chuen, may inherit the family fortune. However, she accidentally poisons her own son instead. Grief-stricken, she kills herself. Ka, commander of the army, is Do -tak's partner in his smuggling activities. His son, Sai-ho, loves Tsi-seong but she loves Lui Chin-wan, the butler. Sai-ho plots to separate the lovers and frames Chin-wan on a smuggling charge. To save her lover, Tsi-seong agrees to marry Sai-ho. On their wedding day, Ka plans to attack the mansion of military governor Lung. However, Lung is informed of the plans by Ka's subordinate adviser Chiu. He attacks first, killing Ka and Sai-ho, and capturing Do-tak. Do-tak's family bicker over his fortune. The third mistress confronts Chi-neng, who is eventually killed by her lover. Tsi-seong, witnessing these events, decides to leave with Chin-wan . They marry and raise a son, starting a new life as the old family disintegrates. (Based on viewing of the film)
