内容介绍 :	Pan A'liu leaves his hometown Shantou for Thailand to look for work. He leaves behind a wife, Zhuang Suzhen, his son Yuanzai, and mother. Arriving in Bangkok, A'liu and his mate, Zeng A'gang, find work as dock labourers. However, the work proves too hard for A'liu and he begins to spend more time in gambling houses, eventually finding employment as a croupier. He further impresses his boss with tea-making skills . The boss changes A'liu's name to Youcheng. Soon, Shantou is occupied by the Japanese. A'liu marries Wang Baofeng, the daughter of businessman Wang Daming. When the Japanese occupy Bangkok, Daming and A'liu collaborate with the occupiers. Daming is soon killed in an explosion and A'liu inherits his fortune. He meets courtesan Anna, who becomes his mistress. Having left home for six years, A'liu has totally neglected his famly in Shantou. His wife and son become beggars, while his sick mother kills herself by plunging into a well. After the Japanese surrender, Suzhen comes to Bangkok with her son in search of A'liu. They meet, but A'liu refuses to acknowledge them. Soon, his business crumbles and Anna leaves him, taking with her all his savings. Suzhen resolves to be independent and to face life with determination. (Based on viewing of the film)
