内容介绍 :	Choi Pak-fan, from a humble family, is in love with Ching-mei, daughter of rich man Yau Sik-ping. Pak-fan is constantly snubbed by Ching-mei's stepmother Madam Wong. Fu Kar-yin, a rich businessman, intends to take Ching-mei as his concubine and asks Madam Wong to make the introduction. Pak-fan is encouraged by Ching-mei to make something of himself. He goes to Singapore to make a head start with help from his aunt, and makes a pledge to meet with Ching-mei two years later. Pak-fan's letters to Ching-mei are intercepted by Madam Wong. Sik-ping's business ventures fail and Madam Wong suggests that Kar-yin lend out a loan on condition that Ching-mei be married off as Kar-yin's concubine. Sik-ping agrees and compels his daughter to the marriage. Pak-fan has made a success of himself, but has in the meantime received no news from Ching-mei. He returns and learns that Ching-mei has become another man's concubine. Pak-fan rushes to the Fu's home to confront Ching-mei. Distressed, Ching-mei receives a double blow when she is told of her father's death. She suffers a nervous breakdown, is sent by Kar-yin to a villa to recuperate. Rumours have it that she has died suddenly, with her spirit still haunting the villa. After learning of the whole truth and Ching -mei's death, a depressed Pak-fan takes on drinking. Accompanied by his sister, he goes to the outskirts for a retreat, and as night falls, stays over at the villa where Ching-mei died. That night, Pak-fan hears a singing voice and when he goes to locate the source, he picks up a ring, a souvenir of love he once gave to Ching-mei. Pak-fan questions the old servant and finally learns that Ching-mei had faked her own death in order to break off her connections with the Fu family. The two lovers are reunited by the side of her fake tomb. (Extracted from the film handbill)
