内容介绍 :	The matriarch of the Ma family is a snob. She always makes life difficult for her eldest daughter-in-law Suk-ching. Her husband advises against her obnoxiousness. But she refuses to change her attitude. Her son, Ying -wah, is too weak-kneed to defend his wife. Second son, Chun-wah, remains a passive onlooker. He wants to marry his girlfriend Kim-chau but is too afraid to ask his parents' blessings. Instead, he pours his grievances to an aunt. Kim-chau is not aware of Chun-wah's problems and locks in skirmishes with him. The family disharmony takes its toll on Ying-wah, who feels sick and collapses. Suk-ching does her best to tend to Ying -wah but she is forced by the matriarch to sleep in a separate room. When a maid, Ah Sam, steals Mrs Ma's diamond bracelet, the theft is framed on Suk-ching. An angry Mrs Ma beats Suk-ching and locks her up in her room. The aunt reports the matter to the police, thus forcing the release of Suk-ching, who moves in to stay with the aunt. The aunt also calls for a cease-fire between Kim-chau and Chun-wah. Kim -chau pretends to be the daughter of a rich family. Her arrogant behaviour subdues Mrs Ma. When Mrs Ma discovers Kim-chau's real identity, Kim-chau exercises her strong character on Mrs Ma to the extent that the old lady is forced to leave home and stay in the aunt's home. There, a shocked Mrs Ma is tended to by Suk-ching. Suk-ching's care finally moves Mrs Ma into redemption. Kim-chau comes forth to explain that her behaviour was a front. Meanwhile, the police have arrested Ah Sam, thus clearing Suk-ching of the crime. Harmony finally returns to the Ma family. (Based on viewing of the film)
