内容介绍 :	Young Zheng Yisheng and his fiancee Wang Qiaolian come to Hong Kong from the mainland to find jobs. They are like "wild geese coming to the South." Not familiar with the places, the couple is often fallen prey to tricksters. A fellow villager, Ah Feng, leads them into a cramped living space known as 'a pigeon hutch.' A co-tenant old Luo owes Zhao Tian, a ruffian, a debt and is unable to pay it off. His wife Meiying is thus forced into concubinage. Yisheng uses all five hundred dollars of his savings to start a small business. But soon it goes into the red. He then works as a waiter at a restaurant. Ah Feng also introduces Qiaolian to serve as a maid at master Zhou's house where she faces his sexual harassment. Qiaolian's brother , Fuquan, is broke and becomes a petty thief. He is caught after attempting to steal in Zhou's house. Master Zhou accuses Qiaolian was in collusion with Fuquan and rapes her. Yisheng rushes to the house and beats Master Zhou. A humiliated Qiaolian seeks to end her life, but Yishen saves her in time. Finally, this group of oppressed migrants from the north decides to quit Hong Kong and return to the mainland to start all over again. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
