内容介绍 :	The second son of the Wong family, Hiu-cho, marries Ho Suk-fong, but soon after the marriage, Hiu-cho dies from tuberculosis. The widow of the first son is having an affair with housekeeper Cheng Tak-chung. They plot to get their hands on the family fortune, constantly bad-mouthing Suk-fong before her mother-in law, the old and blind matriarch of the Wong family. Suk-fong gives birth to a son. The eldest daughter-in-law and Tak-chung pay the midwife Third Aunt, instructing her to kill the baby. The Wet Nurse learns of this plot and pleads with Third Aunt to spare the baby. Third Aunt spreads the lie that the baby is dead. In truth, the baby is given up to the Wet Nurse to bring up. Six years later, Matriarch Wong has adopted a boy, Man-ching, as the heir to the Wong family. Man-ching who is in fact, Suk-fong's son, is entrusted to the care of the eldest daughter-in-law. Twenty years later, Man-ching, has grown up to become a spendthrift dandy. Instigated by the eldest daughter-in-law and Tak-chung, Man-ching steals Matriarch Wong's property, intending them for his own use. Suk-fong learns of the theft and confronts Man-ching to demand their return. Tak-chung then persuades Man -ching to kill Suk-fong by giving her poison. Mistakenly, the poison is given to Matriarch Wong. Tak-chung runs away with the titles and deeds, leaving the eldest daughter-in-law in a state of shock. Man-ching puts the finger of blame at Suk-fong, who is tried and sentenced to death. When told the truth of his lineage, Man-ching goes before Suk-fong to acknowledge her as his mother. Tak-chung is later arrested, and confesses his guilt. Mother and son are finally reunited. (Based on viewing of the film.)
