内容介绍 :	Au Man-lap comes from a well-to-do family. His father acts as guarantor to a debt incurred by an uncle. The family loses its fortune when the uncle, unable to repay the debt, runs away. Impoverished, the Au family is forced to live in a shack. Man-lap's wife, Ah Kam, becomes pregnant. Seeing his family in such a state, old man Au secretly works part-time and, as a result, loses his sight. To raise money, Man-lap goes to Third Aunt to borrow money at high interest. A month passes. Unable to repay the loan, Ah Kam goes to see Third Aunt to plead for more time. A man, Siu Tai-hoi, notices Ah Kam and takes an interest in her. Man-lap falls ill. He loses his job when his wife attempts to ask his employers to give her husband sick leave. Man-lap is hospitalised and more misfortune falls on the Au family when their shack is burned down. Homeless, and with the baby sick, Ah Kam goes to Third Aunt to raise another loan but is pressed by Third Aunt to prostitute herself. Fortunately, Ah Kam keeps her head and escapes from the indecent trade. Finally, Man-lap recovers and is discharged from hospital. He finds a new job, while his father recovers his sight. At the same time, the uncle returns and pays off the debt. Their fortune restored, the Au family breathes a sigh of relief. (Based on viewing of the film)
