内容介绍 :	Hua Fengxian's father and brother are killed by the Japanese during the Sino-Japanese War and she becomes a prostitute. On a journey home to see her children, she meets three married couples, the Luos, the Jias and the Xus, and the nurses Xie Fang and Yang Hua. The lorry is about to pull in at Xinkang township when it is stopped by Japanese soldiers at a checkpoint. The commander, Sato, is attracted to Fengxian and orders his unit to further question the party at the inn where they pass the night. Fengxian refuses to entertain Sato and he deliberately holds up the party. The three couples try their best to persuade her to entertain Sato. On the second night of their enforced stay at the inn, she witnesses the brutal beating of a pregnant woman by Japanese soldiers. Together with the two nurses and the driver, Fengxian tends to the victim. In the process, she discovers that the two nurses are in fact guerrillas travelling incognito. Their mission is to deliver badly-needed medicine to wounded soldiers . Because of the delay in the journey, the two nurses decide to continue their journey on foot, disguising as village women. Having discovered the real identities of the two women, Fengxian decides to sacrifice herself for the sake of the guerrillas. Her fellow passengers are pleased to learn that she will entertain Sato. On seeing Sato, she demands that the passengers be allowed to continue on their journey. This condition fulfilled, Fengxian stabs Sato but before he falls, he shoots her.
