内容介绍 :	Wei Liansheng is the leading female persona of the opera, often using his links with officials and establishment figures to help those in need. He meets Yuchun, the fourth concubine of the county chief and opera aficionado Su Hongji. Yuchun was sold by his poor father into a brothel. She is attracted to Wei Liansheng, seeing that Wei is a kind and good man. While planning to elope and to live a simple life, they are discovered by Su Hongji's servant, Wang Xingui. Xingui leads a gang of thugs to apprehend Yuchun, even though Liansheng introduced Xingui to his job and they were friends. Liansheng is forced to leave and make ends meet through a wandering existence. Yuchun is given away as a "gift" to Xu Fucheng. Twenty years later, Liansheng returns to the town. In the garden of the Su home, Liansheng meets Yuchun, now Madam Xu. However, the two are like strangers, hardly recognising each other. Liansheng meets his end on the streets, dying from the freezing cold. (Based on viewing the film.)
