内容介绍 :	Chong Ching-sheung and her mother, a widow, are harassed by the local tyrant. When the mother dies, a despondent Ching-sheung is about to jump into a river when she is stopped by a passing gentleman, Mang Chau-ming. He brings her home to live with his mother. Chau-ming works temporarily as a pianist in a restaurant but eventually finds an accounting job in the Tai Tung Company . The secretary Ching Yuk-bing, who has an affair with Manager Ma, repeatedly pesters Chau-ming. When Yuk-bing is promoted to manager asssitant, Ching-seung applies for the vacant position of secretary and gets the job. However, Ma harbours errant desires for Ching-seung. Because of resistance from Chau-ming, who looks upon Ching-seung as his own wife, Ma eventually sacks Ching-seung, and conspires with Yuk-bing to harm Chau-ming. Yuk-bing frames the theft of a cheque on Chau-ming, who is brought to the law and jailed. Chau-ming's mother falls ills dies at this point. To pay for the mother's funeral and to secure Chau-ming's release, Ching-seung agrees to become Ma's concubine. Mistaking that Ching-seung covets after a life of luxury, Chau-ming eventually marries Nga-lai, daughter of the managing director. A revengeful Ching-seung climbs to the top as a social butterfly. Now it is Chau-ming's turn to plead with Ching-seung to use her influence to help release the director. However, Ching-seung demands a price that Chau-ming divorces Nga-lai. When the divorce is announced, Chau-ming confronts Ching-seung with a gun . He shoots Ching-seung on the shoulder as the quarrel ensues, and Chau-ming is once again sentenced to jail. The love-hate relationship between Chau-ming and Ching-seung lingers on. (Extracted from the film novel booklet.)
