内容介绍 :	Cai Meiying is sold as a servant girl by her father, Cai Ermao, to landlord Master Chen to pay off the rent to the farm. Meiying and Master Chen's son, Daosheng, become childhood sweethearts but old Master Chen opposes their relationship and sends Daosheng off to Shanghai to study law. Ten years pass, Daosheng, now a graduate, returns home and quickly resumes his affair with Meiying, now a lustrous young woman. However, war breaks out and Daosheng leaves once more to join the army. Meiying is pregnant with Daosheng's child but when she hears that the old master has arranged for her to become someone else's concubine, Meiying runs away. Several years pass. The war has ended and Daosheng returns home. Meiying welcomes Daosheng at the train station but sees him in the arms of another woman. Meiying decides to bring her child to the city. Meiying falls into the company of Gu Dekui, a pimp and becomes a prostitute, renamed as Hua Li. When Dekui is murdered, the police arrest Meiying as a suspect and bring her to trial. The judge is none other than Daosheng. Though Meiying is found not guilty, she leaves without seeing Daosheng, leaving behind a note and their child for Daosheng to bring up.
