内容介绍 : | Businessman Wu Chi-lei lives a happy life with wife Wong Suk-yin and son Man-yee. Chi-lei is involved in a business venture with brother Chi-to but Chi-to's attention is distracted by an adulterous affair with Lucy. When the market falls, Chi-lei's health deteriorates. Before his demise, Chi-lei instructs his brother to look after Suk-yin and Man-yee. However, Chi-to becomes entangled in his affair with Lucy in the hope that she will bear him a son, his own wife being a sickly woman. Lucy, in turn, conspires with her lover, Johnny, to cheat Chi-to. Johnny poses as Lucy's cousin to get himself into the trading company . Meanwhile he cuts off Suk-yin and Man-yee's lifeline. Suk-yin falls victim to Johnny's plot to have her driven away from the house. She finds sheeter only in an orphanage. One day, Man-yee unwittingly comes across Lucy and Johnny having an assignation. Lucy and Johnny plan to kill Man-yee but they are instead killed by robbers. Man-yee is given help and shelter by Unlce Yan, an old servant. She is later reunited with her mother when he returns a lost wallet to the director of the orphanage. Chi-to comes calling at the orphanage and is reunited with Suk-yin and Man-yee. He then decides to devote his time and money to educate poor orphans. (Extracted from the film brochure.) |
