内容介绍 : | In the Han Dynasty, an emissary of the southern barbarians goes to the court of King Suen, presenting him with a red sack tied in knots. If no one in King Suen's kingdom can loosen the knots, the kingdom will be considered conquered by the southern barbarians. So Kam-ding, daughter of So Man-kui, the chief of staff in the Western Palace, is the only person who disentangles the red sack, doing so by turning her back on the emperor because of her shyness. She immediately becomes King Suen's favourite arousing the jealousy of Concubine Miu. A conspiracy by Concubine Miu and her cousin, General Lee Man-lung, to get rid of Kam-ding by accusing her of treason nearly succeeds, if not for the Empress Cheung's putting in a good word for Kam-ding. However, Kam-ding is locked up in the side palace where she gives birth to a son. Lee Man-lung, acting on orders from Concubine Miu, burns down the palace where Kam-ding stays, hoping to kill the baby as well. Again, Empress Cheung saves Kam-ding who is taken to the Tin Chai Temple for safety. Empress Cheung's chief of staff saves the baby and it is brought up by the loyal adjutant, Cheng. The baby grows up and even passes the imperial examinations. King Suen adopts him as a god-son. The young man reveals his true identity to Empress Cheung but is overheard by Concubine Miu. Miu's underlings rush to Tin Chai Temple and burn it down. The Crown Prince and his mother escape to the mountains where they ally themselves with Kam-ding's brothers Man-lun and Man-fung. At this time, the power of Concubine Miu and the forces loyal to her reaches its peak and they rebel against the throne. The Crown Prince and the So brothers rally the loyalists and take back the kingdom from the rebels. The Crown Prince becomes emperor. (Extracted from the film brochure.) |
