内容介绍 : | During the Ming dynasty, a young man Sima Ling-heung is competent in both martial and literary arts. Ling-heung is filial to his mother, though she maltreats his wife, Fan Suet-mei. Nevertheless, Suet-mei tries her best to execute her duties and accepts her fate. Ling-heung is dissatisfied with the tyranny of the Lord of Huainan. He resolves to assassinate the despot, but mistakenly makes his way into the bed chamber of the Countess. Attracted by Ling-heung's charisma, the Countess summons his mother and gives her money to nullify Ling-heung's marriage with Suet -mei. A distraught Suet-mei commits suicide after handing over her daughter, Siu-chu, to her sister-in-law, Ching-lin. However, Ching-lin saves Suet-mei and renders her aid. This, in turn , brings about a misunderstanding from Ching-lin's lover, Hon Suet-fung. Thinking that Ching-lin is behaving dishonourably, Suet-fung breaks off his engagement to her. Ling-heung's marriage to the Countess is doomed as the farmer is unable to bear her haughty attitude. Ling-heung leaves home, and together with Suet-fung, plan their career. The Countess makes the lives of Ling-heung's mother, Ching-lin and Siu-chu miserable. Ching-lin decides to run away with Siu Chu and Suet-mei when it becomes obvious that the Countess is targeting her wrath at Siu-chu. On the way, Suet-mei and Siu-chu become ill. Ching-lin resorts to prostitute herself to General Cheung Hung. When Cheung Hung becomes drunk, Ching-lin steals his money and runs off. In pursuit, the General catches Ching-lin but is accidentally killed by Ching-lin and Suet-mei. The two women are brought to trial; the presiding judge turns out to be none other than Suet-mei's husband Ling-heung. During the trial, an imperial edict is issued whereby the despot and the Countess are to be arrested and taken to the capital. Through the course of this drama, Ling-heung is finally reunited with his family. The misunderstanding between Ching-lin and Suet-fung is also resolved. (Extracted from the film brochure) |
