内容介绍 :	Kam Lo-tai's family has for generations been head of the beggar gang, but now, Kam not only has abundant land and wealth, he also has a beautiful daughter, Yuk-lo. Kam arranges for Yuk-lo to marry a poor scholar Mok Kai, who has agreed to be married into the Kam family. Lo-tai not only pays for his daughter's own dowry, but also prepares for the wardrobe and the banquet. At the wedding banquet, Kam Lai-tsi and his gang of beggars come to cause havoc. Lai-tsi takes offence for Lo-tai's failure to invite him in the first place. Mindful of her family's reputation, Yuk-lo spares no expense to buy literary classics and hire teachers to tutor her husband. Kai eventually becomes a chongyaun and is promoted to high office. Kai has a change of heart and conspires to drown his wife in order to marry another woman.The attempt to take Yuk-lo's life fails as she is saved and revived by Hui Tak-hau, Mok Kai's senior, who adopts Yuk-lo as his daughter. Tak-hau devises a plan to trick Kai into marrying his adopted daughter. Kai readily agrees. On entering the nuptial chamber, Kai is beaten up by the old servant and a young maid, and sees that his wife is none other than Yuk-lo, believes he is seeing a ghost. Kai is finally told the truth by Tak-hau and wife. Chastened, Kai turns a new leaf and is reconciled with Yuk-lo. (Based on newspaper advertisements and the folktale.)
