内容介绍 : | The Emperor promises to betroth the Princess to the young man Yuk-kwan. Before their wedding takes place, Yuk-kwan wants to have a look of the princess. He thus disguises himself as a bodhisattva statue enshrined in the temple, when the princess goes to worship. The princess sees through the trick, and punishes him to be a monk there, without knowing that she is betrothed to him already. In the wedding day, all civil and military officials come to celebrate . Yuk-kwan's brother tells the princess that Yuk-kwan has already become a monk. The princess is greatly shocked and in a terrible fit of anger. The Emperor issues edicts to summon Yuk-kwan. To frustrate the princess' pride, Yuk- kwan pretends that he has renounced all worldly desires and remains untouched. The princess, disguised as a girl selling flowers, tries to rekindle the passions in Yuk-kwan. He does nothing but just keeps on chanting buddhist canons. The princess, in tears, urges the Emperor to do something. The Emperor has to send his Royal Guards to get Yuk-kwan back to the palace to be the bridegroom. Finding the princess too proud to show any compliance to him, Yuk-kwan resorts again to his canons. Suddenly, it is said that the princess has committed suicide. Yuk-kwan bursts into the saddest wail and wants to die with her. In fact, the princess only feigns death. Now she knows that he really loves her and gladly shows compliance to him . They become the best couple of mutual respect and marital harmony. |
