内容介绍 :	Minister Wong betrothed his daughter Chun-ngai to Lam Siu-tak when she was young. In view of the Lams' declined fortune, he arranges for Chun-ngai to marry Cheuk Yan, the son of the Grand Tutor. In order to get rid of Tak, Wong sets the deadline by which Tak has to submit a large amount of money as betrothal gift. This puts Tak in despair. Ngai is determined to resist her father, she meets Tak in the garden and asks him to come the next evening to pick up her jewelry. Yan's servant Chun-on learns this and informs Yan. Ngai's maid expects Tak at the door the next evening, Tak comes late because he has to look after his sick mother. Yan sends someone to kill Tak but Ngai's maid has instead fallen victim to the scheme. Wong, the witness, is also killed. Tak shows up for appointment and neglectfully leaves his palm prints on the corpses. He is unable to clear his name. Tak is arrested soon after and forced to plead guilty. The magistracy ends the case hastily. Ngai is distressed about her father's death, but she knows that Tak is not the murderer. She then goes to Judge Pao to reverse the wrong verdict. Fortunately, the shrewd Judge Bao investigates the case in disguise and sentences the culprit and the murderer for their crime.
