内容介绍 :	Old Master Ko manipulates the marriages of his family. Eldest grandson Kok-sun, is deeply in love with cousin Chin Mui-fun, Ko asks Fung Lok-shan, to find Sun a wife instead. Sun succumbs to a marriage with Lee Shui-kok. Then Fun comes visiting with her mother, she becomes even frailer. Kok is very understanding and offers to back out of the relationship, but Fun refuses. When Sun finds out about Kok's offer, he begins to like her better. Fun dies soon after that visit. Kok-sun's youngest brother, Kok-wai, has a secret relationship with the maid, Ming-fung, and plans to marry her. Meanwhile, Ko asks Fung to be a matchmaker again, this time for Kok-man. Fung takes the opportunity to ask for Ming-fung to be his concubine. The desperate Ming-fung throws herself into the river. Another maid, Yuen-yee, takes Ming-fung's place to become Fung's concubine. Fung abuses her to such an extent that she goes mad . Second grandson Kok-man is in love with Cousin Kam, leaves home in pursuit of free love. When dealt a further blow by his unfilial son, Ko falls ill. His concubine refuses to let him be treated by a western medical doctor. Not being properly treated, Ko finally expires. Just at that time, Kok's baby is due. The elders of the family say the birth will affect Ko's spirit and force Kok to have the baby in a storeroom. It is a difficult birth, and Kok dies after giving birth to a baby boy. The family only care about what they will get now that Ko is dead. Wai decides to leave, only Sun stays.
