内容介绍 :	Having lost her parents, Ching -wan is temporarily staying with her aunt in the Leung family. Madame Leung's wish to match Wan with her second son, Hok-ming, elicits passionate jealousy from the third son, Sing-ming. The eldest son, Ngan-ming, although not the offspring of Madam Leung, and often suffering the consequences of this by being maltreated, shows great filial love for his stepmother. Ngan leads the two younger brothers to suppress an insurrection, which has broken out in the outer reaches of the kingdom. Hok is wounded in action by an arrow shot from behind by Sing. Fortunately, a Lady of the barbarians saves him, and she agrees to call for peace. Upon coming home, Sing tells his mother that Hok has been killed and demands marriage to Wan. Madame Leung blames Ngan for not having taken care of his brother. The truth is not revealed until Ngan tells his mother that Hok is still alive, was detained on the barbarian battlefield, but is soon to return. A poor couple, But Fat-tat and his wife, work together as helpers for the rich Leung family. When Ngan sees the resemblance between But and his brother Hok, he comes up with the idea of taking But home to appease his mother. Madame Leung demands that Hok's double marry Wan immediately. Seeing that But wants to marry another woman, But's wife goes berserk and sets off for home to seek help from her people. When Sing points out that the double, But, is an impostor, Madame Leung is furious at Ngan. Hok then appears in time to disclose Sing's dishonourable behaviour and to decry Leung's unjust treatment of Ngan. Leung regrets what she has done to her stepson and Sing expresses repentance and begs forgiveness. When But's wife returns to seek truth from the husband, the couple are given enough money to keep them in comfort for the rest of their lives.
