内容介绍 :	Stock market speculation has become prolific in early 90's Shanghai. Lily Fan, a bus attendant, wants to rise out of poverty towards a lifestyle that includes an apartment with a flush toilet. Alan Tam moves from Hong Kong to Shanghai to save the relationship with his girlfriend, Anna, who has decided to build a career there. Alan is fascinated by the economic boom brought about by speculation and decides to play the market himself. He starts by seeking help from his nephew, who asks Lily to queue up for shares. When Lily realises that she could benefit from the proximity of her apartment to the Shareholding Company, she decides to work with Alan to get a share of the profit. Lily becomes rich and famous in no time, but she has to trade family happiness for success. As she is busy speculating, she neglects her husband and daughter. The husband's inferiority complex causes increasing tension etween them. In order to regain the esteem he has lost within the family, the husband hazards $20 million belonging to a friend but loses all the money. In desperation, he tries to end his life by jumping from a hotel rooftop. At that moment, Lily and the daughter appear just in time to stop him and resolve their differences. Alan also makes up with Anna after they have confided in each other.
