内容介绍 :	Newlyweds Meng Ziqian and Li Peihua live on their meagre income. Qian considers his present accommodation as the most suitable one to live in, after being busy getting loans and looking at some new places. Both think that they will have a settled and blissful life after they get married. The couple is disillusioned. They are always disturbed by troublesome flat-mates, so Qian decides to move to a flat with a better living environment. After moving to a new place where the contract states that no children are allowed, Hua becomes pregnant. When they intend to save more money for future plans, Hua is is made redundant and they have to move earlier to a flat with a lower rent. As Hua has given birth to a baby by Caesarean, a domestic maid, whose wages are paid by Qian and the landlady, is employed to look after Hua, and all of Qian's savings are exhausted. Qian desperately borrows money from his relatives and friends. They invite relatives and friends to a banquet celebrating their baby's completion of its first month of life, and hope fervently that money and gifts from the guests can ease their difficulties. However, more debts accumulate in the end. The couple can do nothing but to move to a much cheaper flat, which is so filthy and noisy that the baby falls ill and they are charged large medical fees. Meanwhile, Hua is pregnant again. Failing to pay the rent, the couple goes through the ordeal of moving from a stone house to a hut and finally ends up occupying a coffin-sized bed. With the support of their neighbours, they learn to face the future positively.
