内容介绍 :	Cuckoo's parents die when she is young. In order to raise money to bury her mother, she sells herself as maid to the Ka household and is ill-treated. Though in love with Pak Ho-fai, Cuckoo, of lowly birth, is coerced into marrying Pak's grandfather as concubine. On her wedding day, Cuckoo meets Fai and the two weep in sorrow. Fai decides to leave the family and goes to the city to study medicine. Cuckoo gives birth to a son and a daughter to Pak. Fai graduates and returns home, it so happens that Kuen's son has pneumonia, she and Fai stay up all night to take care of the sick boy; but she is slandered by his second and third uncles. Believing the rumour to be true, Cuckoo's husband tells Fai to leave, and Cuckoo's son dies from lack of treatment. When Kuen's husband passes away, the Sino-Japanese war breaks out. and the Pak family is each to his own. Cuckoo loses contact with her daughter when war ravages the land. Grief-stricken, she rejects the courtship of Wan Tsi-fung who has stuck by her through thick and thin. During one of her visits, Cuckoo meets Fai again. Meanwhile, Wong Wan-sheung, daughter of one of the orphanage's directors, has a crush on Fai. She is biased against Cuckoo because of her jealousy, it turns out that Sheung is actually Cuckoo's daughter. Cuckoo finally meets her daughter, but the daughter refuses to recognise her until she falls critically ill.
