内容介绍 :	In the early years of the Republic of China, there live two lovers in the Nam Tau Village: Suk-ying and Tang Chi-kin are in love with one and other but the rich and powerful village chief Kam Pak-yan forced Suk-ying to marry him. Kin is very angry and he wants Ying to run away with him. However she is too tradition-bound to agree to such a proposal and she rejects Kin. Unfortunately, Yan's close subordinate, Captain Wai, overhears what they say and blackmails them. The pressure on the two lovers is so great that they finally decide to run away. The village has been practising the feudal custom of drowning women adulterers in bamboo pig cages, the ceremony is presided over by Yan. When Yan learns that the love between his wife Ying and her old flame Kin lingers still, he frames Kin, who is sentenced to death. However, the truth is uncovered by the former village chief Wong and Wong deals with the case firmly. The long arm of justice reaches Kam. He is arrested and jailed while Ying is banished from the village. Kin and Ying are unable to unbind the tie of tradition to start their new life together again and they leave each other.
