内容介绍 :	Siu-lan's mother is abandoned by her husband, so she lives with her father and stepmother since child. She is treated as a servant and faces all kinds of torture. The only person who loves her is her half sister Fung-chu. When Fung-chu's cousin Ping-kwong comes back to Kuala Lumpur from Taiwan, everyone thinks that he wants to court Fung-chu. In fact, he only wants to see Siu-lan whom he met when they were young. They meet secretly and Kwong delays his marriage with Fung-chu. However, Fung-chu finds out they go out together. She hates Siu-lan for taking away her beloved. Siu-lan is flogged by her father and kicked out of the family. She stays in a woman's house temporarily. She wants to leave Kwong but she is touched by Kwong's good faith. They decide to move back to Taiwan and get married. Kwong's parents strongly disapprove of their marriage. The lovers leave the family and start working to become independent. With the help from his friend, Kwong finds an office job in Singapore, but he is forced to leave by his father. He has no choice but to work in a construction site. Kwong is injured and sent to the hospital. Siu-lan is forced to become a singing girl in order to earn the hospital fee. Her father finds out Siu-lan has become a singing girl, but he is scolded by her daughter. Fung-chu hangs out with a teddy-boy called George. Her father is irritated and becomes sick. Siu-lan tries to persuade Fung-chu to stop going out with George, but with no result. George sells Fung-chu to a whoremonger. Siu-lan saves her sister but is beaten by George, which caused miscarriage . Siu-lan's father pays her hospital fee, and she is reconciled with her father after she recovers. Her father dies in hospital bed.
