内容介绍 :	In 1986, Li Xiaojun comes south to Hong Kong from Mo Sek, his home town, to seek refuge with his aunt and sells chickens for a living. He becomes acquainted with Qiao, who came from Kwongchow, in a fast-food shop. To earn commission, Qiao introduces Xiaojun to a private school for tuition in English. The two of them gradually get to know each other well. Whenever Qiao needs to earn some extra money, she will definitely ask Xiaojun to help. Xiaojun is innocent and kind by nature. He only hopes to save enough money to marry Fang Xiaoting, his lover in his home town. Qiao, on the other hand, wants to become a career woman. Initially, their ambitions are not the same. But because Qiao loses her investment in a stall in the lunar New Year's Eve bazaar, the two lonely hearts unexpectedly come together and begin an unexpressed love affair. Recommended by a friend, Xiaojun changes his job to become an apprentice chef. On the other hand, Qiao begins to engage in speculation. She loses all her savings in the 1987 stock market crash and has no alternative but to become a massage girl. She then comes to know Brother Pau, a triad member. Feeling that her love for Xiaojun will not bear fruit, Qiao becomes Pau's mistress. In 1990, Xiaojun finally manages to bring Xiaoting to Hong Kong and they marry. On his wedding day, he meets Qiao, who now has a successful career. Although they initially suppressed their feelings towards each other, their love finally flames again. But when they are prepared to be re-united, Pau has to flee Hong Kong because he has committed crimes. Qiao is unwilling to leave Pau alone and flees with him. Feeling that he is unworthy of Xiaoting's love, Xiaojun parts with her. This, together with the death of his aunt and his friend, makes him decide to go to a Chinatown in the United States and become chef. In 1993, Qiao and Pau arrive in New York through many places. After being robbed, Pau dies in an alien country. Qiao, at a loss for what to do, continues to live alone in the United States. Two years later, Qiao and Xiaojun meet for the third time when they are in the street, stunned by watching the news of singer Teresa Tang's sudden death. ..
