内容介绍 :	Master Chan has two sons: the eldest son Yung is filial and diligent, but is often abused by his stepmother. The second son Wai likes anything but serious work but he is liked and indulged by Mrs. Chan. Wai has a dream girl, and Mrs. Chan forces Yung to marry Cheung Yuk-hing so his brother can also get married. Both Yung and Hing are opposed to this kind of arranged marriage, but they cannot defy their parents and have to obey. Actually Yung and Hing have met once, and have left each other good impression. On wedding night, Wai is angry to find out his sister-in-law is his dream girl, and he wants to plot and harm Yung but is stopped by his stepbrother Yee. Yung is ecstatic when he finds Hing is his bride, he gives her a pair of pearl earrings as souvenir. Yee unfortunately sees this. Yee likes to help others, but he is also a degenerate gambler. He sneaks into Hing's room and steals the pearl earrings for gambling. When he leaves in a hurry, a shoe is left behind which is picked up by Wai and accuses Hing of committing adultery. Mrs. Chan drives Hing away from home, and Hing is chased and stoned by the villagers. Her father tries to stop the commotion and is killed. Hing tries to drown herself and is saved by Yee. Since Hing is no longer there, Yung also leaves home to sit for the national examination at the capital. He returns with honor and sets the record straight for Hing, who by then has given birth to a son of Yung. Mrs. Chan and Wai confess their wrongs and ask for forgiveness. Hing is once again admitted into the Chan household and has a good reunion with everybody.
