Ming goes around to try and borrow money to no avail. He then goes to Southeast Asia and work as a laborer to cover the medical expenses. Since then Ping and Ming have been separated. When the Sino-Japanese war broke out, the hospital is bombed. Ping's son has been admitted into the hospital for illness, when Ping arrives, she thinks that her son has been killed by the bombing. In fact, her son has been taken away by an expecting woman Mrs. Yip, who changed the name of Ping's son to Wai-tak to substitute for her own son who died during the air raid. Two years later, Mrs . Yip gave birth to another son Wai-keung. Since then she mistreats Tak and indulges on Keung. Ming works hard in Southeast Asia and receives recognition from his boss. His life becomes steady, and he sends people to try to fetch for Ping. Since Ping's old house is ruined, Ming thinks both Ping and his son are dead. He gets married with Yuen-ling, the boss' daughter, and has a girl whom he named Pui-ying. Years later, Tak, Keung and Ying are classmates. Keung persists to capture Ying's heart, but Ying falls for Tak. Ping works in the school, and she loathes Keung for bullying Tak all the time. Ping takes good care for Tak and Ying. One day, Ping chats with the servant of the Yip's family, and finds out Tak is actually her son. She wants to reveal her identity but is frustrated by her lack of evidence. Ming and Ling come from Southeast Asia to visit Ying in school, and Ping sees them. She is sad, and also because Tak and Ying are half brother and sister, so Ping tries everything to sabotage Tak and Ying from developing further their mutual affection. Her tricks are discovered, and Ping is asked why she has done it. |
