内容介绍 :	In a fishing village called Silvery Sand Bay, Rose, the daughter of a fishing folk, and Ali are childhood sweethearts. Both their families lead simple but happy lives, maintaining their livelihood by catching abalone. However, good times never last when Rose's beautiful face attracts a fishmonger, Lao Liu. Rose's drunkard father Ah Sheng has arranged for her to become Liu's concubine. Liu forces him to take money for marrying Rose after getting him drunk. Learning about her father's arrangement, Rose rebuffs him and strongly rejects it. Sheng knows it is his fault and begs Liu to call off the marriage, but is threatened because he is heavily in debt. The lovers elope. On the night of leaving the village, Rose is delayed by Sheng's intention to kill himself. Rose and Sheng later meet Li on the sea but are unfortunate enough to bump into Liu coming to get Rose. Sheng desperately delays Liu, hoping that Rose and Li can get away free. Pursued by the unrelenting Liu. In desperation, Rose and Li jump off the cliff. From that day onwards, roses are planted over the cliff in remembrance of the lovers.
