内容介绍 : | When he was crown prince, Emperor Mong had an affair with Pak Hon-mui, daughter of the minister, Pak Yuen- sum. Hon-mui becomes pregnant. Yuen-sum is ordered by the Empress Dowager to arrange for her to marry General Bit Ling, son of the Second Lord. When Yuen-sum learns of her daughter's affair with the Emperor, he is perplexed. He is afraid that if the Empress finds out, she will force the Emperor to abdicate in favour of the General. The General is aware of Hon-mui's pregnancy and forgives her. They marry and start a family. Seventeen years pass. The General's son , Bit Sang, is a young man, is unaware of his royal blood. On Hon-mui's 36th birthday, the Empress and Emperor are invited to attend the party. On seeing Hon-mui again, the Emperor arranges to meet her in the garden but they are seen by the General and his son. Enraged, the General exposes the affair to the Empress, who banishes the Emperor to a monastery in the West Mountain. Hon-mui and her father are exiled to the frontier. Meanwhile, the General becomes emperor, still keeping Bit Sang's background from him and seeks to exploit his ability as a military commander to exterminate the barbarian forces. He orders Bit Sang to kill the Emperor. One day, Bit Sang sees his mother begging in the streets and she tells him the truth. Bit Sang swears vengeance. However, the General knows his days are gone and abdicates in favour of Bit Sang. After their deaths, the Emperor and Hon-mui are reunited, transformed as a pair of cuckoos.
