内容介绍 : | During the late Qing dynasty, the Sha family is a distinguished house of officials, with the patriarch, Sha Fung-cheung, being an honest minister in the court. His son, Third Master Sha, is a playboy whose capricious ways and improper behaviour have brought the family much trouble. In the same county lives Tam Ah-yan, who is unemployed. In order to make ends meet, his mother sells his wife, Ah Ngan, into the Sha household as a servant. Third Master is attracted to Ah Ngan. One night, he secretly visits her, but is caught by his wife. Ah Ngan thus becomes the target of the wife's wrath. Tempted by the continued advances of Third Master, Ah Ngan agrees to become his mistress on condition that she is given the proper status. Thus, Third Master snatches the key to the household from his wife and gives it to Ah Ngan. In order to possess her, he summons Ah-yan and tells him Ah Ngan is having an affair with the gardener. He urges Ah-yan to divorce her and even gives him money to marry again. However, Ah-yan sees through the conspiracy. Third Master kills him and throws his body by the roadside. However, Ah Yan manages to leave a note saying "Third Master killed me in order to possess my wife? before he dies. Pedestrians discover the body and Ah-yan's mother brings the note to the magistracy and files charge. Fung-cheung, unshirking in his duty, returns home tearfully to arrest his son. As he awaits execution, Third Master realises his wrongdoing and repents. (Based on viewing of the film.) |
