内容介绍 :	Chao Wu-liang and Tsai Bo-kai is a pair of newly married couple. Tsai's father forces his son to go to the imperial capital and sit for the examination. Tsai and his wife are unwilling to part from each other. Tsai becomes the Number One Scholar and the Prime Minister intends to make him his son-in-law. When Tsai refuses, the Prime Minister requests the emperor to issue an imperial decree and grant marriage between Tsai and his daughter. A drought and famine have occurred in Tsai's hometown. Chao reserves food for her father-in-law and mother-in-law while she herself eats puncture vine. But her act is misunderstood by her parents-in-law. However, when they realize what happens, they feel very guilty. The two of them die soon and Chao goes to the imperial capital to look for Tsai. The Prime Minister has written a letter of divorce to Chao. But the messenger who delivers the letter falls ill on his way and when he arrives at Tsai's hometown, Chao has gone already. The Prime Minister cheats his daughter Wen-shou that Tsai's having a wife is only an invented story. But Wen-shou still feels uneasy. Tsai misses his hometown and Chao every day, but is prevented from returning there. Chao is provided refuge by Wen-shou. Tsai feels that the music given out by a pipa is very familiar to him. He also discovers that there are paintings of his old parents in the study. Wen-shou tells him that they are left behind by a woman. Tsai then realizes that the woman must be Chao and thus chases after her. Chao blames him for having failed to perform his duties as son and husband. Tsai explains to her his difficulties and how he misses her and his home. He also promises to follow Chao despite obstacles.
