内容介绍 :	Lam Doi-yuk stays with her maternal grandmother after her parents' deaths. She becomes close to her cousin, Bo-yuk, who expresses his love for Doi-yuk during a Chinese New Year fireworks display . This arouses the jealousy of another cousin Sit Bo-chai, who is secretly in love with Bo-yuk. Cousin Sze Sheung-wan also attends the party with her son. Sheung-wan is actually in love with cousin Ka Lin, but Lin's parents have arranged for him to marry Wong Hei-fung. That night, Lin and Sheung-wan secretly meet by the bridge. They express their sorrow over the feudalistic marriage. On the eve of the grandmother's birthday, Bo-yuk's attire is accidentally damaged , the maid Ching-man has to mend it overnight. An already ill, Ching-man gets very sick and gains Bo-yuk's attention who delivers medicine to her. Hei-fung misunderstands the gesture and thinks that Bo-yuk is having an affair with the maid. As a result, Ching-man is expelled from the house. Bo-yuk's elder sister Yuen-chun comes back from the United States to attend the grandmother's birthday banquet. Yuen-chun promises to support her father Ka Tsing's speculative activities . After the banquet, Bo-yuk visits the fatally-ill Ching-man. Before she dies, Ching-man advises Bo-yuk to rid of his non-decisive character. To seal a business agreement with Sit Poon, Tsing agrees to let Bo-yuk marry Poon's sister Bo-chai. The news is kept from Bo-yuk and Doi-yuk. Not until the wedding day then Doi-yuk learns of the marriage on her sick bed and her health deteriorates rapidly. And Bo-yuk discovers he has been deceived into marrying Bo-chai only when Sheung-wan breaks the news during the wedding ceremony. At this point, Poon arrives to inform Tsing that his smuggled goods have been confiscated. Tsing has to declare a bankruptcy. Bo-yuk rushes to See Doi-yuk, who finally dies in his arms.
