内容介绍 :	University professor Lau Yung stays in a friend's villa during a summer break to write a novel. A young widow Cheung Suet- fan and her sister-in-law, Yiu Yuk-ling, live next door. Suet-fan lost her husband Yiu Chung-shu during the war. Chung-shu is a resistance fighter hunted by the Japanese and later plunged into the sea and died. Suet-fan has taken a revenge and kills a Japanese officer. She has been jailed and tortured. Since then, she is mentally deranged. Lau Yung is the spitting image of Suet-fan's dead husband. She always tries to get close to him. But Yung is in love with Yuk-ling, thus making Suet-fan jealous. All of a sudden, Suet-fan receives news that her husband has been rescued by a fellow guerrilla and is now involved in underground activities. Finally, Chung -shu is reunited with his wife and sister. Lau Yung finishes his novel, titled The Devoted Soul, which is a story about Suet-fan and Chung-shu. (Based on viewing of the film.)
