内容介绍 :	Zhao Xiaofeng is a humble country girl who marries into another peasant household. Xiaofeng and her husband, Li Jiabao, live a reasonably contented country life . A Mr Zhang from the city lives in the countryside and the peasants look on with envy at Mr Zhang's lifestyle and his material possessions. A country girl Guiying has married an army officer and comes back to the countryside bringing modern things. The lure of the city is the reason why Xiaofeng's friend Ah Fang has eloped with a boyfriend. Meanwhile, Xiaofeng is seduced by young Mr Zhang who regales her with stories of how good city life is and tempts her with an offer to become a model. When Jiabao learns of this, he slaps Xiaofeng. Shocked, Xiaofeng runs away but with the guidance of headmaster Wu, husband and wife are eventually reconciled. Ah Fang, now a drug addict, returns to the countryside. She kills herself. Xiaofeng realises the error of envy and resolves to be a good wife to Jiabao, living happily in their farm. (Based onviewing the film and a synopsis published in Jianguo Daily, 1947/11/1.)
