内容介绍 :	Siu Wing-lun and Lun Bik-yung are a couple whose marriage was arranged at childhood. However, the status of Wing-lun's family declines and he is forced to become a street scribe to earn a living. Therefore, Bik-yung's father, Kung-king, wishes to re-arrange for her to marry Pong On and forces Wing-lun to write a statement nullifying his marriage arrangement with Bik-yung. Wing-lun refuses. Kung-king thus imprisons him in a shed. Bik-yung releases him but his street-side business is destroyed by Kung-king. One evening, while Bik-yung is singing in the garden, Wing-lun hears her and climbs over the wall to see her. Lam King-sim, Bik-yung's sister-in-law, encourages her to give her jewellery to Wing-lun so that he may find a job out of town. The incident is discovered by her father who accuses Wing-lun of stealing the jewellery. Brought to trial before the bribed Magistrate Mui, Wing-lun is tortured and put in jail. King-sim brings Bik-yung to see Magistrate Mui. As King-sim's family is influential, the magistrate allows Bik-yung to visit Wing-lun. Kung-king learns of this meeting and vents his indignation on Bik- yung who resorts to commit suicide by jumping into the river. Fortunately, She is saved by a nun and given sanctuary in the nunnery. Wing-lun is later released. He sits the imperial examinations in the capital and returns home with honours. Thinking that Bik-yung is dead, he goes to the riverside to grieve. Stopping by the nunnery to erect a memorial for her, he discovers her lover is still alive. The husband and wife are reunited. (Extracted from a newspaper synopsis.)
