内容介绍 :	Gao Jingfang is an accountant at the Dalong Bank where he has been working for some twenty years. He and his wife have three daughters, Zihong, Baiying, and Qingping, all of marriageable age. Zihong, the eldest daughter, is in love with Wu Zhanqiang. Mindful of social status, Jingfang is against the match because Zhanqiang is poor. The lovers decide to elope, resulting in an angry Jingfang applying for a sick leave for the very first time. The loss of one daughter leads Jingfang to exercise greater control over his second daughter Baiying. But Baiying falls in love with Li Jizhi , a fine arts teacher, and becomes pregnant. Jingfang has no choice but to give his blessing to their marriage. youngest daughter Qingping is now Jingfang's only hope. To the father's delight, she falls for Zhu Dajun, son of the owner of Dalong Bank . When marriage is proposed, Jingfang spends all his money to organise a sumptuous wedding party. On the customary visit of the bride to her parents three days after her marriage, all relatives are congregated but the bride and the bridegroom fail to turn up. The couple has received a telegram from the old master demanding their immediate return to the United States. Feeling that he has lost face, Jingfang is in a state of shock. At this point, Zihong and Baiying return home with their respective husbands. It is only then that Jingfang comes to realise that status and money should not come first in the selection of sons-in-law. (Extracted from the film novel.)
