内容介绍 :	Vegetable hawker Lun Man-chui studies hard in his spare time, winning the affections of Chun-fa, a maid in the home of Master Wu. Uncle Chuen, a fortune-teller, predicts a bright future for him. Man-chui's literary skills gains prominence when he revises a couplet written by Lady Wu's brother, Pao Chi-sui. He is then employed by Master Wu, who is so impressed that he wants to marry off his daughter, Mei-hing, to him. However, this causes Chi-sui to create difficulties for him. Chun-fa comes to the help of Man-chui, suggesting to the master to hold a literary contest to select a husband for Mei-hing. On the eve of the contest, Chi-sui manages to drug Man-chui, strips him of his coat and locks him up in a shed. Chun- fa releases him and dresses him up in Chi-sui's clothes. Thus, Man-chui enters the contest, but is accused by Chi-sui of stealing his garments. Man-chui is banished from the master's home. Encouraged and supported by Chun- fa, Man-chui goes to the capital to sit the imperial examinations and returns in glory, to marry Chun-fa. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
