内容介绍 : | It is late autumn. Ko Wah-kwun goes to Hoi Fu Villa to visit the mother of Wai Mai-kei, and recalls the events of their relationship. Before setting out to Singapore to take up a newspaper job, Wah-kwun meets Mai-kei on a bus journey and falls in love with her at first sight. Though Mai-kei has feelings for Wah-kwun, she is engaged to Wan Chung-yee , son of a rich man and to whom she owes a favour. As the relationship between Mai-kei and Wah-kwun deepens, a suspicious Chung-yee suffers further from tuberculosis. Wah-kwun is about to depart Hong Kong. Mai-kei intends to end their relationship, but Wah-kwun's Singapore job offer falls through, forcing him to stay in Hong Kong. This leads to rekindling of their affair. Chung-yee becomes agitated and Mai-kei agrees to marry him in order not to worsen his condition, leaving Wah-kwun heartbroken. Wah-kwun goes into business with his good friend Lau Siu-sum. During a party to celebrate the opening of their factory, Wah-kwun meets Mai-kei again. They retire to a garden where Wah-kwun tells Mai-kei that she should not have sacrificed her own happiness for Chung-yee's sake. Chung-yee learns of this meeting and angrily departs for medical treatment overseas. When Mai-kei finally seeks a divorce, Chung-yee returns suddenly to accuse her of infidelity and refuses to let her go. Mai-kei is distraught and falls ill. Wah-kwun, now working in Southeast Asia, returns but Mai-kei is too ill to recover. She dies, with Chung-yee regretting his actions. (Extracted from the film brochure.) |
