内容介绍 :	Mrs Lam is the wife of a sailor Lam Wai. She works as an infant formula saleswoman and earns a meagre wage to bring up her three children, Yu-pak, Yu-chung and Siu-mui. She also gets help from landlady Third Aunt and her daughter Sheung-fung, a teacher . But the family still lives from hand to mouth. One day, Tong Bing-fun, a colleague of Lam Wai, visits Mrs Lam and tells her that her husband has died in a sea disaster. Mrs Lam is succumbed to the news, but she does not tell her children the tragic news. Bing-fun is sympathetic to Mrs Lam and her family. He decides to quit his job as a sailor and finds a job in Hong Kong to support Mrs Lam's family. With Bing-fun's financial help , the three children are able to go to school. Bing-fun soon falls in love with Sheung-fung. However, Bing-fun vows not to marry so that he can look after the Lams. This has broken Sheung-fung's heart. Meanwhile , Bing-fun's devotion to the Lam family is misunderstood by Yu-pak, who thinks that Bing-fun is harbouring a desire for his mother. Yu-pak runs away from home. When she is in a panic search for her son, Mrs Lam is knocked down by a car and is sent to hospital. Yu-pak returns home several days later, and sees Bing-fun in the kitchen. Yu-pak is about to stab him with a knife when he overhears a conversation between Bing- fun and Sheung-fung, and learns about his father's death as well as Bing-fun's unfailing help. Yu-pak drops his knife and cries aloud. The misunderstanding is thus cleared. One day, an insurance company man comes and tells Mrs Lam she is entitled to a lump sum for her husband had taken a life assurance policy with the company. The company, having resumed business after the war, is now able to release the insured amount. This immediately solves the Lam family's financial difficulties. Bing-fun and Sheung-fung eventually become husband and wife. (Extracted from the film brochure.)
